What We Don't Like
- Unsuitable for people with big heads
- Low build quality

Finding the perfect DJ headphones without burning a big hole in your pocket may look like a daunting task, but it’s not impossible. However, what is the guarantee that affordable headphones can gratify your love for music? Well, you’re up for a surprise as we’ve got the perfect DJ headphones for you! The Tascam TH-02 is definitely a run for its money.

When we say it’s affordable, we mean really affordable. For DJ headphones that are extremely affordable, you will be surprised at how stellar the sound quality is! Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it?

On popular request, we tried and reviewed these closed-back studio headphones over a period of 7 days. We mixed, mastered, and recorded our favorite tracks using these DJ headphones. Read on to know what our experts have to say about the Tascam TH-02 Studio headphones.

Sound Quality and Noise Isolation

We’ve noticed that with headphones by other brands, the music is crisp and clear for only particular genres. Luckily, these headphones allow you to distinctly hear every beat, irrespective of the genre of music. However, the overall sound quality is nothing extraordinary.

With a vast frequency response between 18 Hz to 22 kHz, there’s definitely a lot of sensitivity. The brand hasn’t compromised and has incorporated 50 mm drivers — a feature that is not seen often in headphones priced as low as these. Of course, that doesn’t mean that their performance is similar to the performance of high end headphones but they do offer a tough competition.

The Tascam TH-02 headphones don’t come with active noise cancellation (ANC), so they don’t reduce ambient sounds. This not only means that exterior noises can be heard if you’re wearing the headphones, but also that your music tends to ‘leak’ out. Be careful not to play your music at high volumes when you’re in a quiet area.

Build and Design

While we were glad that the brand has incorporated 50 mm drivers in the design, we cannot say the same about the ear padding. While the ear cups and headband are lined with cushioning, it wasn’t as comfortable and soft as we would have liked. Nevertheless, some existing customers seemed to have no issue with the ear cups and felt that they could wear the headphones for long duration without any discomfort.

The headband doesn’t exactly fit snugly around the ears and hangs somewhat awkwardly. The ear cups don’t cover the ear completely and are quite small, unlike many other headphones. However, they are breathable as they don’t cover your ears completely. One of our experts felt that the ears tend to feel warm after having worn the headphones for a long period. The ear cups also come with 90-degree rotation.

The overall look of the headphones isn’t any spectacular. Having been primarily constructed with plastic, the Tascam TH-02 Studio headphones have a generic design. The pair is compact and foldable, making them an ideal travel buddy. Unfortunately, the Tascam TH-02 do not come with a carrying case, so you will have to buy one separately.

Features of Tascam TH-02

If you’re looking for cable-free headphones, the Tascam TH-02 isn’t for you. These headphones do not come with an additional detachable cable, hence they only provide audio when connected. The cable permanently attached to the headphones is 9.8 feet in length, which is astonishingly long. However, they aren’t sturdy. These wired headphones do not support Bluetooth connectivity. The headphones come with a 1/4 inch adapter and a manual.

So, What Do You Think About Tascam TH-02?

There’s definitely a lot of scope for improvement in the Tascam TH-02 Studio headphones. While we would like to see better cushioning on the ear cups and a bigger size, we must say we are quite impressed with the sound quality and frequency response. Being foldable and collapsible means that you can easily fold them and place them in your bag, without them taking up too much space. You won’t have to worry about them getting damaged either.
